I really wish I had more chances to host, but living like a Borrower stuck in a matchbox with a kitchen so close you can fry an egg with your foot, it makes that pipe dream a bit tricky. Thank god London rent is cheap though, right?
Is my flat a puny? Absolutely. But thanks to a gorgeous table my dad built, some DIY stools, and a bay window that actually fits bums (miracles happen), I do my best.
I dream of the day I have a beautiful dining room with tiled floors, french doors opening onto an ocean view and a table big enough that my keys and dog lead don’t immediately claim it as their own the second I walk through the front door. Clearly, my manifestation batteries need a serious recharge because, spoiler alert, we’re not there yet.
Luckily, I do a lot of event styling—usually for brand activations, which often involve fancy dinners for influencers. You may or may not agree, but planning a table setting is one of my favourite pastimes. The thoughtful touches, the colour schemes, plotting a menu, and finding the perfect blooms to tie it all together? Sold. If you didn’t read my first edition of ‘Host It Like It’s Hot’… enjoy.
For this edition, I wanted to bring you unique ideas and products to try out this summer. Because honestly, why the hello shouldn’t your BBQ look like a Laila Gohar Instagram post?

So let’s start with the very hook that got you here in the first place…
Each serving up something different, you can find the napkins linked below.
Now, if you fancy yourself as a bit of Nigella meets Kirthanaa , then no napkin is complete without a napkin ring to boot. Some smaller styles will obviously be better suited to flat laying on a table but these really do have the power to take your table from ‘I copied this from Pinterest’ to ‘I’m about to go viral as a hosting extraordinaire’.
I’ve picked some of the best little napkin-huggers out, cute as a button and sure to start the conversation at your next soirée.
It’s worth noting that for something as playful and attention grabbing as a napkin ring, you’ll find a lot of artisan brands. Pricing can be a little high but they’re intended to be something you’ll use time and time again.
