Mercury Rising
Not your Astro forecast, just a beautiful selection of chrome inspired homewares.
Ok so. After being locked out of Substack for an annoying amount of time, miraculously, we’re back. For those who are new to Studio Dayze, over the past year I have been growing my business as an event and interior stylist working with leading brands as well as actively working as a trend forecaster for interiors and fashion for futures agency, Future Snoops (Formerly Fashion Snoops).
I’m typing this at 5.44am with a BIG coffee, my sleep schedule has been feral of late. Styling days have been starting very early and my brain feels like the Apple ‘spinning wheel of doom’ permanently, with invoices, and intrusive thoughts about my business model creeping in at 3am, which feel as welcome as a spot before a date.
Running my business for just shy of a year — with a few chaotic pivots — I’ve hit a bit of a point where I need to zoom out, take stock, figure out what’s working (and what’s not). All of which sounds very sensible until it shows up as mild existential dread in the middle of the night — cute, love that for me.
So anyway, trying to bring some continuity to this space, I’m aiming for a monthly drop — basically an extension of my instagram selects, just more thoughts and less noise. Stuff to shop, stuff to think about (ADHD-permitting).
PS: all budgets welcome here. there’ll be bits from the high street we can all enjoy and bits that cost the same as rent, this space is for everyone.
If you’re not just dressing yourself but your space too — I’m expanding my personal shopping to include interiors with some personalised services coming to my website. For now, drop me an email if you’re interested in some bespoke support in creating a home that feels like you on your best days.
However for this edit, if you want your home to look like a Berlin gallery x 90s Margiela, look no further.
Starting back with a chrome + silver selection of shiny things only. It’s a vibe we’re all clearly into right now — somewhere between retro-future and magpie fantasy.
Let’s get stuck in…
Wave Vase - Darkka Studio on Etsy. £42.58
Why I love it? The gorgeous ebbs and flow of vase feel ocean like and either as a stand alone piece of a few stem flowers scattered inside, you know it’s going to look good wherever you put it.
Textured Steel Chair - Zara Home £199.99
I’ve really grown to love Zara home of late. It’s been interesting to see so many of the highstreet creating dupes from Ferm or Hay but I do feel like Zara have carved a niche with some nice complimentary pieces that offer character at affordable prices.
Six Dots Design - Magazine Rack -£180
I really love everything about this new design studio. Each piece is really meticulously thought out, unique and a great example of craftsmanship. Pricing perhaps not the most attainable for most of us, however, these are crafted as art pieces for the home from Joseph Ellwood so consider it a sculptural investment.
Ripple Metal Candle Sconse - H&M Home £19.99
I recently purchased these for a bathroom in a home I was working on and really love them. A lightweight addition to the wall that add a lovely charming elegance and even better, super affordable. The quality was also much better than I had expected.
Hay High Slit Table - £143.20 - sale price
Another well loved design-centric brand, Hay always manage to create timeless pieces that feel contemporary and effortlessly cool. I love this side table which could be use on it’s own or even as sideboards within a bedroom. This website currently has it on sale although it’s still under pre-order.
Another slightly more expensive piece but it really is just a dream. I love the angular design and especially styled with this textured wall which feels like a really soothing new direction for minimalist home styling.
Silver Canelé incense Holder £49
Maybe it’s my days living in France and travelling to and from Bordeaux but this little guy spoke to me. Definitely not one for my budget but I had to include. If you haven’t ever tried a Canelé - make it a priority. They’re a gift from the gods.
I love the versatility of these items which are playful and stylish. I certainly wouldn’t mind my egg and soldiers looking this cute. Aside Potentially useful as mini trivets for a table scape too.
And thus concludes my first substack of the year with many more to come. If you like what you see please subscribe and be sure to check out the brands and items mentioned. For further inspiration you can see a curated selection of more items via my pinterest board.
